Fall is one of my favourite times of the year (scratch that, I like all seasons equally), but sweater weather is pretty awesome, am I right?! The fresh air flowing through your open windows, comfort home cooking as well as apple and pumpkin everything!
No. 1 Outdoor Activities
This past weekend we stopped by Proulx Farm to get out and enjoy the sunny fall weather. We took a wagon ride, climbed the hay bail tower and slid to our heart’s content. Cumberland Museum is another great low key place that has fun activities seasonally! Winter is especially magical there.
No. 2 Apple Picking
There are lots of wonderful places to go grab a fresh apple around here. We’ve stopped in just down the way to the Orleans Fruit Farm as well as travelled a little out of town to Mountain Orchard (which also has donuts and a few activities the kiddos would enjoy). You can stock up on lots of goodies or just go for a lovely walk and pick an apple to eat.
Whether you head to a large(ish) mountain like the Laurentian’s in Tremblant or smaller hills like Gatineau Park, there is nothing quite like a fall hike to fill your soul. Nature has a special way of replenishing your mental and physical energy. I don’t practice meditation in the “traditional” sense (think cross-legged with your hands’ palm up ), but I do try to take moments out of each day to truly be grateful for just being here. It’s what fuels me. In these moments, staring at the beautiful views nature has to offer, how can you not be truly humbled and thankful for that moment. Sacha and I have been hiking for a long time (like a hundred years, as our son would say). We have a little less time to do it these days so we treasure the ones we get in and we love to bring the kids in tow!
No. 4 Fashion
I have gotten in the habit of tucking things away seasonally so I can rediscover them a few months later and it works! Who doesn't love digging out the layers from their closet with that “Hey I forgot about that” moment! Then adding a few new additions to complete your fall wardrobe.
No. 5 Decor
Not hard to believe but I love adding a little fall flavour to my home, too! I usually try to keep things simple with just a few classic pieces and then layer in all the real pumpkins!
Let me know what you get up to for fall fun!
