Designing the Perfect Bedside Vignette | Tips & Favourites

Your bedside space should be a reflection of your personal style while also being functional. There are so many options when it comes to choosing a bedside table and a lamp so we’re breaking it down for you with our favourites and a few things to keep in mind to make this selection a little easier.

Here in our Westmount Project Master Bedroom, we were limited in terms of space. We selected the Sake nightstand for its relatively narrow width and for the closed storage feature. We combined it with the Valley wall sconce to allow for more space atop the nightstand and to compliment the wainscotting.

Bedside Tip 1: Space Requirements & Scale

Do you have a lot or do you have a little bedside space? This will determine the size of the nightstand as well as the size of your lamp or whether you may need a sconce for task lighting. Additionally, you’ll need to consider the size of your nightstand with respect to the size of your bed and the space it occupies.

The height of the Maddie bed headboard installed at the LD Shoppe allowed for a tall bedside table lamp and nightstand combo. The tones of the Richmond nightstand and Damian table lamp help to add a bit of warmth in the space, while still keeping an overall soft colour palette.

Bedside Tip 2: Overall Aesthetic

Consider things like wood tone, material, and other elements in the bedroom to help guide your style. For example, if you have a large chandelier and you’d like this to be the statement, try selecting a nightstand that compliments it without competing with it.

As mentioned earlier, it’s important to consider function when it comes to choosing a bedside lamp. At the Carp Project Guest Bedroom we used the Mona desk lamp as the perfect task lighting for when guests stay over. We selected the Hammond nightstand as it provides sufficient storage when need be.

Bedside Tip 3: Function

Think about your nightly routine when debating between nightstands and bedside lamps. Do you need a lot of bedside storage? Do you read at night? These are questions that will guide your decision when it comes to selecting your bedside vignette.

This beautiful bohemian-inspired bedroom at LD Shoppe already had an amazing focal point with the Lyla rug hung up above the bed. In order to not take away from this we decided that the Lilia side table and Hendrix brass desk lamp would be the perfect combination for this space.
