Westmount Project Progress

IMG_7391.jpg 2018 is already shaping up to be our busiest year yet, and we are so excited about the the opportunities and milestones it holds. One of the special highlights this year is our Westmount project, a renovation and from-scratch decor job in a century home nestled in the one of Montreal's most scenic neighbourhoods.

The clients are a creative couple with precious twin daughters. They chose the house for it's unique character and chic charm, very well suited to the family. So while the house is grand and fairly traditional (in the best way), they really want to bring it into this century and create a space that feels current and cozy. Our aim is to brighten and modernize the entire home while staying true to its historic appeal.

Note: Grace is the lead designer on this project so you'll see her "pensive work face" throughout the photo's! :)

Master Bed - Before _MG_6045.jpg WestmountBlogCollage.jpg

The biggest overhaul will take place on the second floor where we are completely remodelling the master bedroom, ensuite and walk-in closet. Our goal is to functionally make the most of the unique layout and create hotel like escape for these busy parents. The bathroom is getting the full shebang with a new larger layout. We were able to bump out a wall to give this couple a little extra elbow room while getting ready in the mornings. With the added space we were also able to keep the separate bath (much needed after long days on your feet) which may have gotten the boot to opt for a larger shower or double vanity. Thankfully we able to squeeze everything in with room to spare!

Kids' Bedrooms - Before IMG_7270.jpg _MG_5965.jpg

Grace reviewing details with the client and contractor.

The girls bedrooms were next on the list. Though not in desperate need of an structural changes (except a secret pocket door or two), they in no way reflected their style or playful persona's. The bedrooms are a mirror image of each other, so the layouts will be quite similar, but their personalities vary and will reflect each individual girl. This fun design task is more than welcome on our 'to do' list. Kids rooms not only allow you to explore your inner child, but play with pattern and colour not typically acceptable in adult spaces. Note: We LOVE kids rooms! ha

Main Bath - Before IMG_7259.jpg_MG_6057.jpgWe are also tackling the existing main bathroom to design a fresh timeless space for the little girls to love now and as they grow. The majority of the footprint is staying the same only swapping out a shower for a more functional linen closet, we just needed to breathe a little more modern girly charm into it.

Hallway - Before  IMG_7241.jpg

This space is seeing a brand new (to code, as this was not) stair railing and wall of mouldings to spruce up its character. A fresh coat of paint and new statement light fixture will soon follow as well!

Den - Before  IMG_7297.jpg

A cozy little space situated at the end of the hall. This room will be sought after for homework, reading, and maybe even a game or two. It will also act as the guest room so a pullout sofa was a must.Originally the entire house was to be filled with white walls to brighten it up, but we were able to convince them that this space would be perfect as a darker den and maybe a little wallpaper wouldn't hurt either. Needless to say we are pretty excited about the after photo's of this room! Yay!

We've add a little sneak peek with the moodboard to give you an idea! Paint colour is Overcoat by Benjamin Moore. Sofa is Pottery BarnArea Rug is LD Shoppe   Wallpaper is Hygge&West through LD Shoppe (Contact us). Ottoman is West Elm. Side table is LD Shoppe. Green Chair is LD Shoppe. Floor Lamp is LD Shoppe. Desk Chair is CB2. Pillows from LD Shoppe and Tonic Living.

There's a few more photo's to check out below of the second floor and we will do another post for the main floor. Too much to talk about!
