Big Rideau Lake House

The Big Rideau Lake House is a stunning, new build summer home nestled in the woods of Ontario cottage country. With architecture & design by the team at Chris Simmonds Architect, the house was built to accommodate a growing multi-generational family during the summer months on an existing piece of property (which is also home to their older cottage). Our aim was to create a space that felt as inviting and comfortable as a vacation home should, while still doing justice to the modern and fairly minimal architecture. With the exception of some deep blue and soft green — pulled directly from the surrounding landscape — we kept the colour scheme fairly neutral. The space is warmed up with rustic wood finishes throughout, lots of woven texture, and plenty of cozy throws and pillows scattered about.
