Leclair Home: Laundry Room Tour

The laundry room is an often-overlooked, utilitarian space—but that doesn’t mean it can’t be well-designed. We applied our design philosophy and signature aesthetic to our laundry room remodel to create a functional space that flowed with the rest of our home and made laundry feel less like a chore. Today, we’re sharing the intentional details that brought it together.

We chose a light colour palette to open up the small space and maintain a sense of calm even on the busiest of laundry days. Our go-to white paint colour, Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore, is used on the walls and built-ins.

The custom drying rack is one of the most asked about items in our laundry room remodel. Constructed in natural white oak with matte black powder-coated rods, it maximizes the use of the space and replaces the need to store a folding plastic rack. Integrated closed storage above the washer and dryer hides all the cleaning products and the addition of a rod in the cabinetry system is another space-saving feature. These little solutions make this tiny space feel organized and designed to its full potential!

We installed a custom countertop to neatly contain the washer and dryer and provide an easy-to-access surface for folding clothes and stain removal. The Cloudburst concrete finish complements the entire colour palette with subtle variations for depth. The coal-coloured herringbone floor tile blends the warmth of traditional materials with contemporary design. The dark tones add contrast to the space and the visual interest of the pattern remains subtle with an iron-coloured grout. We carried the same tile used in our ensuite through to the laundry room because we love the organic feel it added to the clean lines of the space.
