Weekly Warmth: Inviting Nature In

The Weekly Warmth is a reminder to take time for yourself. Here, I share a weekly collection of fashion, cooking, lifestyle, and design favourites, along with uplifting stories, helpful tips, and more. With the Weekly Warmth, we can all come back to a creative space and find special moments in the everyday.

Sometimes I believe I can simply will spring to arrive by pretending it’s already here. It may seem a tad early, but I’m starting to add touches of fresh, spring decor throughout our home. One of my top tips for bringing on spring is of course to freshen up your greenery. This week, I’m sharing my favourite ways to add natural elements to your home this season. I hope you draw inspiration from the little things that brought me warmth this week.

  1. Botanicals, whether real or faux, are a key way that we add our signature modern warmth to a space. Bringing nature indoors balances more structured pieces and clean lines with organic colour and shape. There are endless placement possibilities for your botanical decor—the coffee table, side table, dresser or nightstand, shelves, kitchen island, dining table, bathroom vanity, and more!

  2. I like to have a touch of greenery in every space in our home, right down to the bathroom, basement, and stairwell. My favourite live botanicals are snake plants and ZZ plants. They are incredibly low maintenance and don’t require much light, so they work almost anywhere. They also have a tropical vibe that screams spring and summer.

  3. If faux plants are a safer bet, you can’t go wrong with the modern look of eucalyptus or olive branches that stay fresh no matter how green your thumb is.

  4. Adding warm woods is another great way to breathe new life into your space this spring. Think small wooden furniture pieces, decor, or even cutting boards to display in the kitchen and dining area. Woven baskets or trays are other options for layering in a natural element in a warm colour.

  5. As we change up the furniture and decor in our main bedroom, I’m also thinking about easy ways to refresh the rest of the house for spring. My first go-to is to move our throw pillows around from room to room. Different combinations and placements can completely change the feel of the space. Adding a couple of new pillows in lighter weight, linen or cotton-like fabrics and spring-inspired colours will also update the look.

  6. Stay tuned for new additions to LD Garden at the Shoppe, coming soon!
