Weekly Warmth: Project Favourites

The Weekly Warmth is a reminder to take time for yourself. Here, I share a weekly collection of fashion, cooking, lifestyle, and design favourites, along with uplifting stories, helpful tips, and more. With the Weekly Warmth, we can all come back to a creative space and find special moments in the everyday.

After a week away relaxing and reflecting on SO many things, I’m feeling grateful to return to a job I truly love and a season of new project reveals! I like to take a step back after each project is finished to examine how we met our client’s needs, how we pushed our design boundaries, and what we’d like to carry forward in other projects. This week, I'm sharing my favourite moments from our latest reveal—the Le Plateau Project! I hope you draw inspiration from the little things that brought me warmth this week.

Seeing a project come together is such a rewarding feeling! Looking back at Le Plateau, I love that we played with shapes and texture in this home. From the arched doorways to the wall mouldings and various wood finishes, warmth and depth carry throughout the space.

The Ensuite

I’m obsessed with every angle of this ensuite, but you just can’t beat the view of the custom vanity through the arched pocket doors. Architectural moments are one of our favourite ways to make a space feel special.

DESIGNER TIP: It’s important to make the best use of space in an ensuite based on your functional needs. If double sinks and a freestanding tub are on your wish list, get creative with space planning in an older home to ensure you’re making modern use of the floor plan.

The Kids’ Bathroom

This bathroom feels soft enough for a kids’ space, yet elegant enough to grow with the little ones. The custom vanity is a timeless piece that can be a constant in any future updates.

DESIGNER TIP: For a design that stands the test of time, select permanent finishes (tile, vanity, etc.) with more timeless, grown-up appeal, and have fun with pieces that are easier to swap out, like paint, lighting, and accessories.

The Laundry Room

The laundry room can easily be overlooked in any home. We spend a lot of time in this space so it’s important they are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. I love the abundance of closed storage and multiple integrated hanging racks. The natural light pouring in over the monochromatic tones is the icing on the cake!

DESIGNER TIP: Closed custom storage is always a worthwhile investment in the laundry room. You won’t regret having a place to tuck away cleaning supplies and single socks. Be sure to build hanging storage and a space for laundry baskets into your millwork plan.

The Entryway/Mudroom

This is a small yet contemporarily quaint space that welcomes you as you enter the Le Plateau home. I love the mix of finishes, from the rich faux leather bench seating to the caning on the cabinet doors. For me, the console styling moment sets off the space, adding the right touch of warm wood.

DESIGNER TIP: This space again requires careful planning. What are your greatest needs: Shoe storage? A coat closet? A combination of both? Design your cabinetry accordingly to maximize closed storage and open space, ensuring a welcoming feeling AND functional solutions.

The Kitchen

There’s so much to love about this kitchen, custom-designed for restauranteurs. My absolute favourite feature is the pair of arched doors leading into the back pantry. They play double-duty adding function and visual depth to the space.

DESIGNER TIP: Kitchens are perhaps the most complex space in any home, and require substantial thought and planning. Be sure to consider every factor and element. Select materials and finishes that you truly love and that elevate the overall look of your home. Plan space and storage around your functional needs. If you’re an avid home chef, consider the size of appliances you’d prefer, the counter space you’ll need, and the possibility of incorporating a pantry.

With love & gratitude ♥,
