Spring Forward: 5 Ways to Elevate Your Styling

Signs of spring are everywhere! The change in season makes us all feel rejuvenated. You can bring this same energy to your home with five simple ways to refresh your spaces and incorporate the trends of the season. Check out our design team’s spring revival checklist!

Step 1: Spring Cleaning

It may not be the most fun part of the process, but it can be the most rewarding! Sometimes you have to strip everything down to build it back up. Take time to declutter—remove everything from your shelves, sideboards, and tables, and give away or donate any pieces that no longer inspire you. It will feel so good to start fresh!

Step 2: Embrace New Trends

Breathe new life into your styling by incorporating on-trend decor. You can easily create a whole new look by blending timeless and trendy pieces. Add modern depth to your decor with plaster and ceramic-finish vases or a monolithic pedestal. Bring contrast to clean lines with organic shapes in anything from your catch-alls to styling vases and small furniture. Create intentional, architectural moments with sculptural wall-hangings or statement bookends. And put a twist on the jute and bamboo trend by incorporating these natural finishes in new colourways, like these decorative or utilitarian pieces.

Step 3: Keep it Light

Spring means it’s time to lighten up! Swap out your heavier wool and chunky knit throws and pillows for light and tonal textiles. Think curtains, rugs, pillows, throws, and even napkins in the airy cotton, linen, and woven textures of the season.

Step 4: Infuse Scents of Spring

Strong design appeals to all the senses. How you want to feel in a space is just as important as how you want it to look. We love to layer on seasonal fragrances with scented candles, incense, and room spray. Choose fresh scents like citrus or naturally-inspired aromas that signal the return of lush flora and fauna.

Step 5: Help Your Home Bloom!

The natural last step in any styling is to bring the outdoors in. We feel a space comes to life when it’s infused with organic elements like botanicals, warm, grainy woods, and other natural textures. We love this handwoven candleholder as a planter and this natural sandstone vase as the foundations for a real or faux arrangement or a tiny potted plant.
